Marketing Back in the Day

The Bible reference Jesus as a carpenter, a trade He likely learned from His father. As someone who is better suited to create digital products, I admire the craftsmanship given to those skilled in building with their hands.

I often wonder what business was like back then. I allow my imagination to stretch with the possibility that Jesus and His father worked for themselves, in a sense, entrepreneurs. Oh how I would love to spend a day watching Him work and absorb His interaction with customers. And instead of being a carpenter, what if He was in the marketing business?

How would this all-loving man navigate throughout the day? That is a constant thought that guides me. Is this something Jesus would post, tweet, or share? Is this a client He would partner with? When someone is negative on social media how quick would He forgive? With so many facets of business, this pondering can take on a life of its own.

While I may never know exactly how business was conducted back in the day, I imagine He always exhibited love, kindness, and had a servant’s heart. A high bar, but one worth striving for in everything we do.

With a servant’s heart,

Kerri
